Lone Star Times Gettogether

I was strongly thinking of going to this gettogether at the Stag's Head - as noted by Laurence Simon.

Until I noted LST was quite happy about the passage of Proposition 2. Eek. Nevermind.

Have fun anyway.

Well now if it matters who voted on Prop. 2 as to who is invited, then I would have to say I voted for Prop. 2 myself.

Being invited, it wouldn't matter one way or the other. On the other hand, I didn't want to spend an evening talking about political kinds of things among people who most likely strongly supported Proposition 2.

Would I be surprised to find out you or your husband voted for Proposition 2? Not really. I still think it's both a bad idea and bad law [ie, poorly worded]. On the other hand, clearly there are areas where we agree.

Oh, and, if the blogmeet had been 10 minutes away instead of an hour away, my thinking might have changed.

For the 2 hours I was there, it was only mentioned one. And only in reference to your refusal to appear because of it.

Okay, so people don't agree. Big deal. Find things in common. Or laugh at the fact that we are all so different.

Celebrate diversity is supposed to be a liberal concept, right?

No wonder why there's a Museum of Tolerance. Because that's the only place you'll find it these days.

Look, I know no one who showed up, and the only blog I read regularly of the people who went [as far as I know] was yours. I live in Galveston, and would have had an hour drive each way.

The only other blogmeet I've been to was for APCB, which was kinda fun, and had some interesting discussions, but also had some strongly anti-Bush, anti-war sentiments. I just bit my tongue, and probably left earlier than I might otherwise have.

I wasn't in the mood for something similar to happen with Proposition 2, which I thought would be talked about, since the election was that week.

Next time, if I'm around, I'll come.
